[Saunders 1941] Herbaceous Hybrid: Brilliant, flaming scarlet red flowers are single to semi-double and carried above unusual chartreuse-green foliage.  Upon spring emergence, the shoots are bright yellow green, burnished with bronze before slowly assuming their mature coloration.  A vigorous grower with abundant flowers, this is wonderful additional to a mixed perennial border or as a colorful and textural accent in a bed of mixed peonies.  Blooms early.
